Why i like watching House ?

Do you like the antics of Dr Gregory House ,Tv’s most famous doctor , star of the medical drama House. It is surprising that the show is so popular keeping in mind that the lead character is a cynical misanthrope and an atheist. Also described as a curmudgeon. He repeatedly attacks religion and superstition and is a staunch advocate of reason, logic and science. On being told there is something after death he tries to nearly kill himself so as to experience it for himself, now that’s a good example of the free thinking adventurous (if somewhat reckless) spirit of an atheist. He also manipulates people to see how they react.

I like House, but I’m quite conscious that part of it is a bit of power fantasy. House says what he thinks with (usually) little or no ill effects to him. He is usually seen as immoral and unethical, but in fact he’s absolutely strictly to a personal ethical code: that of doing whatever he deems necessary to keep his patients alive and healthy. In contrast to the grand placebo effect offered by society and its polite fictions, his is the awful tasting medicine which works.

On top of this, he is a superhuman problem solver and an excellent judge of character — although he does have an observer bias towards the negative aspects.

Pity he’s such a jerk; but the fact that he can be a jerk and get away with it is part of the power fantasy, too. And what makes it uplifting is that he’s a jerk who on the whole does good things.

Galaxy collision

Why the collision of Galaxies doesn’t affect us? Is it destructive ? Our Galaxy and Andromeda will collide at some point in the future. But one must remember,Galaxies are mostly empty space.

A computer simulation of the collision on YouTube!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJRc37D2ZZY

As one can see from the simulation,Gravitational forces will have and affect on the gross morphology of both galaxies. But again, we must remember that most of this is at very large scales. The chances of direct collisions between objects of each galaxy is rather remote.

if some how due to collision or any other reason if our solar system gets isolated or separated in space and is independent of any galaxy will it survive….by survive i mean will it be in its original form??

I don’t know for certain, but should think that our solar system would be fine on it’s own. The integrity for our Sun is far more important to the Solar System in general… and Earth in particular… than its placement within our Galaxy.
I would tend to think that the greatest danger would lay with potential perturbations to object in the Oort Cloud. But even these would probably take tens to hundreds of thousands of years to manifest themselves.
